Gasol, Rondo Named Players of the Week

November 1, 2010

After a riveting 24 assist performance against the New York Knicks, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Rondo only came four assists shy of matching legendary Bob Cousy’s 28 assists in one game record. For the week, Rondo averaged 10.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 16.7 APG.

Lakers’ big man Pau Gasol played solid all week. As Kobe Bryant continues to return back from knee surgery, Gasol has took the lead and led the team to a 3-0 record. Gasol has averaged 25.3 PPG, 10.3 RPG and 5.0 APG.

If the MVP award was handed out today, Rajon Rondo wins it. Granted, I know it’s stupid to say such things at this point in the season, but it’s true. I’ve been saying for the past year and some change now that if this guy EVER develops a jumpshot he will virtually unstoppable.

I’m not trying to jinx him or the Celtics, but if something happens to Double R, Boston is DONE.

Rondo is phenomenal. Granted he plays with 4 future Hall of Famers.

Imagine what a Derron Williams, Chris Paul or a Derrick Rose can do with that cast. Hmmm.
