Amar’e Wants to Join Team USA in London for 2012

November 5, 2010

From Daily News Reporter:

CHICAGO – Amar’e Stoudemire has joined the list of All-Stars who want to be part of the 2012 Olympics in London.

“Hopefully, if everything goes well and I stay healthy I’ll be ready for 2012,” Stoudemire said Thursday night. “It’s great we have a lot of players that are interested in it. I’ve put a lot of time into USA Basketball and I was back at it again this summer.”

Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony have all said they want to defend the gold medal. Stoudemire was scheduled to play for Team USA at the World Championships in August, but the Knicks asked him not to participate because of his history of knee problems.

Asked if he believes the Knicks will support his decision to play, Stoudemire said: “I think so.”

Amazing idea to say the least. I just hope he stays healthy and the Knicks grant his wish.
